Reny Radkova – The Role of Intercultural and Language Training for Successful Intercultural Communication

Reny Radkova – The Role of Intercultural and Language Training for Successful Intercultural CommunicationAbstract: The focus of the proposed text is the role of intercultural and language training for successful intercultural communication. Language training perceived language as a system of different rules and rarely draws attention to its special relationship with intercultural training. Tolerance, understanding and acceptance of different ethnicities and cultures and respect for human rights are at the core of European identity. That is why language, particularly language learning must undoubtedly be combined with intercultural training. On the one hand linguistic competence is essential in a situation of intercultural interaction, but on the other hand knowledge of the foreign culture is not enough without the necessary linguistic skills. Intercultural learning and international education is valued more and their key issues must be analyzed related to education in Bulgarian schools. Based on evolving scientific field (intercultural training and education) of those working in this field should be offered professional information that will help in putting problems and implementing practice of intercultural learning.

Keywords: intercultural training; language training; foreign culture; intercultural understanding; Intercultural Communication.

Nikolai Tsankov, Veska Gyuviyska – Pronominal Identity in the Context of Deviation

Nikolai Tsankov, Veska Gyuviyska – Pronominal Identity in the Context of DeviationAbstract: In the postmodern age we live in, the realization of the concept of the ‘individual’ is only possible in the context of the community so far as the individual is created through the relations which the community suggests. The main form of identity is no longer ‘I AM’ which is the foundation of ‘individuality’ as structure-determining but the relations and oppositions in which the individual enters transgressively. The trajectories take over the ‘subject’ on its way to integrate in to the world of Others. The main opposition, however, remains intact and it is “Me or the Other (him/her)” where the other has degrees of identification such as ‘Mine’, “Other”, “Different”, “Foreign”. What is more, identity in the 21st century being a pronoun one changes its direction from personal to possessive pronouns- mine, yours, ours, etc., reflexive and indefinite pronouns. In the context of deviation as s problem of social pedagogy, the problem of the pronoun identity becomes visible when the individual defines him/herself through or distance him/herself from communities.

Key words: pronoun identity, possessive identity, deviation, ethical norm, unsocial behavior, person, personality, community.

The theoretical views are illustrated with examples from the social practice.
