Mincho Nikolov – Career and Professional Epidemics

Abstract: The article presents the relationship between the acquired professional qualification and the current career status of employed people. It turns out that in most cases the expectations of success and the actual work achievements differ in value, direction and strength. The professional qualification of human resources for a certain work type is not purposefully used, which generates dissatisfaction. Longer duration of such employment leads to massive physical, emotional and behavioral problems, including the occurrence of suicidal feelings, stroke, heart attack, colitis, ulcers, gastritis, obesity, migraine, asthma, infertility. Inadequate employment triggers these manifestations of the “professional burn-out” syndrome, which in turn marks the rate of „professional epidemic” in our society very high.

The following research aims to determine the proportional differences of professional interests and career success, as well as the psychological aspects regarding the losses and benefits with employed people.

Keywords: career, professional epidemics, professional qualification, employees, success rate, professional burn-out syndrome.
