Abstract: The problem of communicative competence of pedagogical specialists has long been the subject of serious scientific discussions. The interest in the problem is justified amid serious challenges to the pedagogical profession ( hence to the vocational-pedagogical training of future teachers, too), associated with the complexity and the dynamics of the changes in all social spheres. The article raises the question of the development of sociolinguistic competence of students from pedagogical specialities in the process of their professional training. The focus is on its praxeological characteristics, i.e. on the skills necessary for the students to manage their own speech behavior. The outlining of the communicative speaking skills, formed and improved in the academic and pedagogical communication, is in accordance with the basic activities in the process of university education — reading, writing, listening, observiing, speaking and presentation.
