Abstract: The purposes of this article are as follows: 1. To place the reading of ancient texts in a different research context, for which there is a reason in the present day. 2. To show that reflection in the perspective of rhetoric can present ancient texts as relevant, enjoyable, and meaningful without the essence of apologetics with historical compromise. The object of analysis is Carmina Burana, and medieval poetry and Renaissance literary texts are also analysed through the prism of rhetoric.

Keywords: Carmina Burana, medieval poetry, Latin vagans, rhetorical audience.
