Abstract: The article presents the specifics of the historical and theoretical approach that are appropriate for teaching and research in the field of humanities and social sciences. The other focus is to show the connection of these approaches with audio-visual techniques in teaching. Specific examples, which point out the transformations of the verbal into the visual as typical of the development of the Internet, are given. Processes and trends that influence the application of audio-visual techniques have been identified. An excursion pointing out the transformations of the verbal into the visual as a specific feature of the development of the Internet has been made. In the first decade of the XXI century there were attempts to organize the virtual and visual environment through the semantics of keywords and hierarchies of concepts and search engine phrases. In the second decade of the XXI century the leading role in the virtual space is assigned to the user and the influencer. While in the first decade of the XXI century the emphasis is placed on well-structured websites, blogs, virtual dictionaries, encyclopedias and e-journales, the second decade of the 21st century and Web 2.0 assign the leading role both to philosophical communities that have real interaction with each other and to individuals. Famous authorities and leaders are, under certain circumstances, becoming influencers in philosophy.
