Abstract: Already with the utterance of the name of a miraculous icon, the one to whom the icon refers comes to life in the name. In each of her miraculous icons, the Most Holy Theotokos is present through her name. The name is also an invitation to enliven the world of tradition. The narrative of the miracle, in condensed form, is contained in the name. It potentially contains all aspects of tradition, but one of them is most strongly present and nominally defining. The name is a formula for a narrative, a fable in condensed form, a quintessence of the action of the icon that carries the miracle on its shoulders. A miraculous icon most often gets its name in connection with a particular event, in which the icon is actively involved. The mere utterance of the name of the miraculous icon in the act of prayerful communion transforms the place of everyday life into a place of celebration, and time freezes in the still image of eternity. When prayerfully addressed to the Theotokos, the name serves to invoke her. She is truly present in the name spoken. Already with the utterance of the name of her miraculous icon, she lives in the name.

Keywords: Miraculous icon of the Theotokos, name, miracle, Holy Mount Athos.
