Abstract: This article presents the results of a study of the first five books of the Holy Scriptures of the Old Testament, the so-called Pentateuch, in which attention is focused on the genre features of the texts in which the root brk occurs in its meaning of “bless/blessing.” A brief overview of the history of research on genres in the Old Testament text is given, and definitions of some basic concepts related to the subject of the study are briefly presented. The results of the study are presented in summary by the main genre forms. A conclusion and topics for future work are presented.
