Theoretical understandings of the humanistic psychology on the formation and development of personality thanks to which the role of the teacher can be viewed in the direction to unleash students\u2019 potential are presented. A theoretical model that identifies the relationship between the intrinsic motivation for learning and the satisfaction of basic psychological needs of students in the educational environment is examined.
