Abstract: The article presents the chronology of the emergence of sculptural symposia, which is a specific type of genre in the presentation of sculpture. The line of their European development is considered, as well as their development in Bulgaria. The most important and influential sculptural symposia, which by their behavior have formed and established their own institution ‘sculptural symposia’, are presented. The communicative dimensions of organizing holding sculptural symposia are derived. The focus is on manifestations and innovations on a visual, creative and cultural level.
