Abstract: The article reviews scientific publications in order to establish the types of arguments, features of argumentation and their relations to ethos. The arguments are briefly presented, among which an argument from authority, an argument against authority, an argument against the person/personality/character or ad hominem argument (argumentum ad hominem). Sources of arguments are also discibed as well as which of them can serve as strong arguments and how to determine which are weak arguments based on sources and their use. Examples illustrating the applications of these arguments in various fields are given, too.
