Abstract: Algorithms, AI platforms and software tools for text generation (NLG) are at the heart of the emergence of a new media field – the automated journalism. Through analysis of good practices, we have established that this contemporary type of journalism is already a natural part of the media process. We describe cases of different tools for automatically generated content used by Los Angeles Times, Associated Press, The Washington Post, Yahoo!, ProPublica, Forbes, The New York Times, MittMedia. The literature review of theories and examples shows that there is a widespread use of technology in journalism – for transcribing interviews, identifying untrustworthy news, creating graphical and audio-visual content. We have identified four major effects of the oncoming of automated journalism in terms of technological, professional, economic and social perspectives.

Keywords: automated journalism, robotized journalism, robo-journalism, algorithmic journalism, journalistic profession.
