Abstract: The role of online media is becoming more and more important in the process of providing information and developing one’s image in the public sphere. The article examines online reporters’ assessment of their own online journalistic writing and online editing skills and the use of multimedia affordances. The assumption is that the media interest is focused on the multimedia affordances as a manifestation of the virtual multimedia newsletter. For this purpose a survey was conducted. The article examines the changes at the level of language quality and sources used by online media in Bulgaria. The survey includes 110 online media reporters in Bulgaria. The results of the investigation demonstrate a low degree of recognition of the affordances of multimedia and the need to reconsider some of the concepts related to the notions of length of titles, article development and construct traditionally established in the press.
