Abstract: The paper explores the theme of the evolution of a language. Three major theories are presented: Nativism, Neo-Darwinism and Windows Theory. The author summarises recent ideas related to these relevant presumptions and focuses on the 8 components of the „Windows” theory proposed by Rudolph Botha (2009).
