Nora Goleshevska – Visual Media’s Interpretations in the Field of Visual Culture Studies. From McLuhan to Visual Studies

Abstract: The article discusses the contemporary interpretations of the so-called visual media. Following McLuhan’s definition of the term media, the text introduces the main conceptions on visual media formulated in the field of Anglo-Saxon Visual Studies. For that reason the term visual media is discussed in relation to the concept of visual culture, and its relation is described by leading researchers such as Tomas Mitchell and Nicholas Mirzoff.
